Yes. DIY sauna kits are designed to be installed inside a pre-framed and insulated structure, such as a room in your home, a basement nook, or an outdoor shed. The kit supplies the cedar interior, not the structural frame.
Are doors and heaters included in the sauna kit price?
Should I choose clear or knotty cedar for my sauna kit?

Clear cedar is smooth, uniform, and free of knots — ideal for a clean, modern sauna design. It’s considered more premium.

What size heater do I need for my sauna?
Heater size depends on the cubic volume of your sauna. For example, a 5x6x7 sauna (210 ft³) typically requires a 6 kW heater. Factors like glass surfaces, exterior walls, and ceiling height can also affect sizing.

Can I pour water on electric sauna heaters?
Yes — if your heater is designed for traditional steam sauna use (like HUUM, Harvia, or Homecraft models), you can safely pour water on the hot stones to create löyly — a burst of steam that enhances heat, comfort, and humidity in the sauna.
To do it properly:
- Use clean, warm water and pour about 80 ml at a time to create a safe amount of steam. To keep your hands away from rising heat, use a ladle for better control.
- Wait between pours so the stones can reheat
- Always pour directly on the stones — not on the heating elements or sauna walls
- Avoid over-pouring, hard water, or using cold water, as sudden temperature changes can crack the stones.
